Working for a seamlessly connected world

Gatehouse Satcom is an embedded software expert, and we offer satellite communications protocol stacks, waveforms and test tools for terminals, satellites, and network infrastructure.

For more than two decades we have delivered market-leading communications software products to the satellite communications industry, and we are looking forward to continuing this role in the new era of standardized and direct-to-device satellite connectivity.

Together with other visionary companies, our customers, we will unlock the full potential of satellite communications for a seamlessly connected world through standardized, mature, and portable waveforms.

Our history

Gatehouse was established in 1992. Founded by engineers and to this day engineering is at the core of what we do – with 75 percent of our team being engineers.

We began our journey developing communications systems for ports and many of the same principles from VHF communications could be applied for satellite systems. Beginning in 2000, we established ourselves as the leading supplier of satcom terminal software for the Inmarsat BGAN system for aeronautical, maritime, and land terminal manufacturers. Since then, we have been involved in development, deployment and maintenance of more than 15 waveforms for satellite communications systems.

We have over the years been involved in DVB, DAMA, GMR and many other waveforms, building up capabilities applicable to any satellite communications waveform. Throughout our history the common denominator has always been mission critical, mature, and portable communications software for the satellite industry.

In recent years we have expanded our capabilities to include development of standardized software for 5G Non-Terrestrial Networks. As an active member of 3GPP, Gatehouse Satcom is actively contributing to the standardization processes regarding 5G NTN and participating in ETSI and 3GPP working groups.

A heritage of knowledge

Gatehouse Satcom was founded by engineers and to this day engineering is at the core of what we do – with 75 percent of our team being engineers. Since the early 2000’s, we have been involved in development, deployment and maintenance of more than 15 waveforms for satellite communications systems.

We are proud to contribute to crucial and mission critical satellite communications infrastructure for customers all over the world – and we continue to push the boundaries of connectivity.

Collaborations

ETSI

ETSI

ETSI is the newest European standardization organization. It was established in 1988 by the request of the European Commission to establish European telecommunications standards.

GateHouse is a full member of ETSI, which means that we are a part of the ETSI network with other industry leaders and experts, participating directly in the standard-making process.

3GPP

3GPP

3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) is a project with 7 telecommunications companies and organizations behind it (ARIB, ATIS, CCSA, ETSI, TSDSI, TTA, TTC). The original goal of the 3GPP project was to create a worldwide 3G network for mobile phones, based on GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) technology. The 3GPP project works with technology within three groups that are technically specified, also called TSG working groups: Radio Access Networks (RAN), Services and System Aspects (SA) and Core Networks and terminals (CT).

GateHouse is a full member of 3GPP. We are very committed to the standardization work and are expert advisors using our knowledge of satellite communication to contribute to form the standard.

European Space Agency

European Space Agency

The European Space Agency (ESA) is Europe’s gateway to space. Its mission is to shape the development of Europe’s space capability and ensure that investment in space continues to deliver benefits to the citizens of Europe and the world.

GateHouse has been involved in several projects with ESA. Currently, we are involved in a program with the main objective of being the first to demonstrate 5G NB-IoT Non-Terrestrial connectivity using satellites in Low Earth Orbit. Under the existing project activity, the main purpose is to identify areas for which the existing terrestrial NB-IoT requires significant adaptations to work from space.

ESA BIC Denmark

ESA BIC Denmark

ESA BIC Denmark is the 21st member of ESA’s pan-European network of Business Incubation Centres. The incubator is led by The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in collaboration with the Danish Ministry for Higher Education and Science, University of Aalborg, University of Aarhus, The Danish Industry Foundation and other partners from academia, science parks, industry and Danish government agencies.

GateHouse is partnering with ESA BIC Denmark, whose main objective is to create and strengthen communities of successful space related start-ups in Denmark by supporting 40 start-ups during the period of 2020-24. The activities will contribute significantly to growing clusters of space-based companies in Denmark.
